A man known as the world's best chef has been found dead at his home in an apparent suicide.
Benoit Violier, 44, was found dead with self-inflicted gunshot wounds, according to police who are investigating his death.
The chef, who was known for running the prestigious Restaurant de l'Hotel de Ville, was found dead at his Switzerland apartment.
In
a statement police said: "Late in the afternoon, police [...] went to
[his home] where they discovered at his home the body of Mr Benoit
Violier."
Police outlined that they believe he died of self-inflicted gunshot wounds in the statement.
The chef rose to fame after his restaurant was named "the world's best" by France's La Liste ranking.
A full investigation into his death is ongoing.
