Church members chase Pastor out of Church for allegedly impregnating his house maid in Oshodi

Commotion erupted at the United Methodist Church, Mafoluku in the Oshodi area of Lagos State on Sunday, as congregation of the Church chased out their pastor, Barkuma Andrew for allegedly impregnating his housemaid.

The Pastor was suspended from leading the church seven months ago when the church found out that he has been sleeping with his housemaid, Grace and also taken her for an abortion after finding out she was pregnant.

The members had petitioned the Central Conference of the church in Taraba State to investigate the alleged atrocity. They, however, sought the service of another pastor three weeks ago when the district reportedly failed to probe Andrew.

Gov. Wike describes Amaechi's stand on Probe Panel as laughable

 

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has described as laughable the stand of his predecessor, Chibuike Amaechi, that he would not appear before the judicial commission of inquiry probing his administration because the commission is illegal.

Wike, who spoke on Sunday through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Opunabo Inko-Tariah, said it was amazing that the former governor would still maintain that stand when a court of law has said the commission was lawful.

Ihekweaba made the statement before the National Assembly Tribunal, where he testified as a witness in the petition filed by the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief David Ogba Onuoha-Bourdex against Senator Mao Ohuabunwa of the PDP.

Man, 21, sexually abused a female corpse in Russia

Cemetery attendants at Monchegorsk graveyard in Russia has caught a 21-year-old man who allegedly exhumed the corpse of a newly buried woman and raped her repeatedly.

Mirror.co.uk reports that when police arrived the scene, the remains of the 39-year-old woman had been sexually brutalized and this is the second case of a sexual attack on a dead woman in the north of Russia this year.

Ex INEC Chair, Jega finally opens up about his calmness during Orubebe drama while announcing 2015 Election results

 

The former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Attahiru Jega, said he remained calm while Godsday Orubebe, a former minister of Niger Delta, disrupted election because he as well as his colleagues were determined to conduct credible elections.

In an interview with Zero Tolerance, a quarterly magazine of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr. Jega said during the collation of results, it was evident to him that some people were bent on derailing the process by provoking him and his colleagues.

“So, we were determined to ensure that no matter the provocation we would ensure that the results were tabulated and announced,” he said.

The Comptroller General of the Nigerian Customs, Abdullahi Dikko Inde, has turned in his resignation letter to President Muhammad Buhari indicating he wishes to leave the job on August 18, according to sources in the presidency.

 Mr. Dikko has two years to the expiration of his tenure, and it is unclear why he has decided to go in one week’s time.  Our sources however note that several Customs leaders are currently being investigated for corruption and some may be fired or arrested. President Buhari is reportedly looking to fill Dikko’sposition with a Customs officer from the South-South.

The meeting was held inside the President’s official residence. It was the first time Jonathan would be visiting the Presidential Villa since he left in the morning of May 29 for the Eagles Square where Buhari took his oath of office and allegiance as his (Jonathan’s) successor.

Medview Acquires More Aircraft, Begins International Operation

Nigeria’s fast growing airline, Medview has acquired large-body aircraft, Boeing B767ER in line with its plan to kick off international operations service to Middle East and Europe.

During the delivery of the aircraft on Sunday, the CEO of the airline, Alhaji Muneer Bankole said the aircraft would be used to airlift pilgrims for Hajj service, which would begin on August 16th and afterwards it would be used to introduce new international route.

Bankole said that indigenous carriers should be encouraged to operate international service because foreign airlines are exploiting Nigerian passengers with exorbitant fares and called on government to review the policies that hamper international air service by local airlines.

It was gathered that the faceless baby was delivered at a hospital in Ogbor Hill, Aba in Abia State.

The strange development has sparked debate among citizens in the area.

49 PDP Senators Declare loyalty For Buhari

Forty-nine Senators of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the upper chamber have declared their support for President Muhammadu Buhari.

This was disclosed by  the Senate’s Minority Whip, Senator Godswill Akpabio, at a press conference at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja on Thursday, August 6, 2015. The Senators, however, lamented that the Federal Government was only targeting PDP members in its anti-corruption crusade. 

Akpabio said the PDP Senate caucus would support President Buhari in his bid to bring about a greater Nigeria, adding that despite its numerical strength in the upper chamber, it has resolved to give only credible opposition necessary for  a better Nigeria and for Buhari to succeed as president.

Good or Bad News? NYSC may soon become voluntary engagement -DG

President Muhammadu Buhari has pledged that his administration will take all necessary actions to maintain and improve the National Youth Service Corps scheme as a functional vehicle for the promotion of national unity and integration.

Mr. Buhari gave the assurance after receiving briefing from officials of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, led by the Permanent Secretary, Rabi Jimeta. 

Meanwhile, the Director-General of NYSC, Brig.-Gen. Johnson Olawumi, also told the President that there are plans to make the scheme voluntary so as to reduce the corps population and sustain it.

Part of the aircraft wing found on Reunion Island is confirmed to be from the missing MH370 plane!

Mr Najib said international experts examining the debris in France had "conclusively confirmed" it was from the aircraft.

The Malaysia Airlines plane carrying 239 people veered off course from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing in March 2014. 

The debris was found on the remote French Indian Ocean island a week ago. The plane is believed to have crashed into the southern Indian Ocean - though no evidence had been found despite a massive search operation.

Buhari directs inclusion of two Islamic books in federal schools’ curriculum

President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Federal Ministry of Education to include two Islamic Studies books written by the late Justice Muhammad Bashir Sambo in the secondary school curriculum for all Federal Government Colleges.

He gave the directive in Kaduna while launching the reviewed editions of the books which were first published in 1974.

Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State, who represented the President said such books was needed at a time moral and religious values in the country were declining.

23 year Old Hairdresser found dead at a dump site in Abeokuta

 

The corpse of a 23-year-old lady has been abandoned at a dump in the Olomoore junction in Abeokuta, Ogun State, with a chunk of flesh severed from her body.

NAFDAC Boss, Paul Orhii arrested by EFCC over unauthorized spending

 

The Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Mr. Paul Orhii, was yesterday grilled by operatives of ‎the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged spending of billions of naira the agencies generated without approval from relevant agencies.

The embattled NAFDAC boss is being interrogated for alleged contract scam and abuse of office. Although the spokesman of the EFCC, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, could not be reached on phone to give more details into the circumstances that led to his interrogation, a competent source told Daily Sun that his invitation is the first in the series of many more to come.

Internet service providers have blocked pornography sites in India, according to media reports, and users who are voicing their suspicions about what appears to be a nationwide ban.

In a discussion on the social media platform - Reddit - users said that they landed on blank pages while trying to access porn sites, and some of them came across the message: "The site has been blocked as per the instructions of Competent Authority."
