Divine Miracle? How Prophet Ayorinde’s Wife, Mercy Died, ressurrected again

For most of you that believe in Miracles, below is what was reported about Prophet Samson Ayorinde's wife, Mercy;
It is always celebration time at the headquarters of the World Evangelism Bible Ministries at Ogudu in Lagos where Prophet Samson Ayorinde and his wife, Mercy call the shot. Week in, week out, the church which holds three services every Sunday attended by tens of thousands of worshippers who are often in a mood of merriment, recounting how providence has made positive intervention in their affairs. Time and again, the pastorate is satisfied to coordinate how the persons who come forward to testify to the goodness of God and then pray that their testimony shall remain permanent.

But it was a different scenario last Sunday as every other testimony paled in colour, drama and significance to the proof-God-at-work provided by no less a person than Mercy Bantale Ayorinde, wife of the founder of the church. Shouts of ‘Halleluyah’! and ‘Praise the Lord’ rent the air. Mercy could hardly be allowed to share evidence of God’s goodness in her life. Intermittently, she was interrupted by members of the congregation who raised a cheerful chorus that everyone joined in. The drumming and dance would last a couple of minutes before Prophet Ayorinde would shout, ‘Praise the Lord’, ‘Praise the Lord’ to force an end to that particular chorus, allowing his wife to continue telling her tale again.

The story is that Mercy ‘died’ while having her meal. Pandemonium was let loose in the Ayorinde household. A doctor was called and he pronounced the woman dead. The Prophet who is known to win back very bad cases when he intercedes in prayers, prayed for over two hours until his voice went hoarse and he could hardly be heard. Some of his lieutenants led by his famous interpreter, Baba Ezekiel Amusan lost hope and advised that the body be prepared for the mortuary, but Ayorinde would have none of that, he politely asked the doctor and his assistants to keep watch from a distance. From late morning till early hours of the night, he continued to pray, yet there was no sign of life from the woman who lay stiff on the bed.

From the most unexpected came a word of wisdom that brought a glimmer of hope that was fanned a flame of life. Ayorinde’s mother who had been crying and lamenting, told his son-the Prophet-to shout his wife’s Yoruba name into her ear. The name, Bantale (Yoruba for ‘Stay –with me-till the end) is a prophetic reminder of the eternal bond between Ayorinde and his wife. This appeared to work the magic, as he shouted the name ‘Bantale o’!!. Like it is often seen in the movies and which validates the saying that truth is stranger than fiction, the woman who had been certified by a doctor for over 14 hours sneezed and came back to life!
